Sun symbols
The rock carvings can give different insights into why and how the sun was worshipped. Sun symbol motifs can be divided into four groups:
The sun symbol connected to a wagon or draught animal.

The horse pulls the sun which is surrounded by ‘adorants’, the so-called adorers.
The sun symbol connected to a boat.

The boat transports the sun back to its starting point at night.
The sun symbol connected to human figures

The sun is surrounded by admirers: two women touch the disc (maybe the sun). A cup mark is placed at the feet of one of the women.
The sun on a tripod

Perhaps a maypole tradition from the Bronze Age?
